This tiara was braided with acrylic, lurex, cotton and wool threads and a semi-rigid stainless thread or 14K gold filled thread. It has a big feather of approximately 8cm long on one hand and a corean knotting technique on the other hand. On each side a barrette was hand-sewed to insure the invisible fitting of the tiara on the hairdress.
The total circumference of the tiara is approximately of 55 cm. The semi-rigid thread allows you to adjust it around your head.
Each piece is packed in a handmade packaging, on hand recycled paper !

Penelope's feather braided tiara
Production
It takes seven different steps to make a feather. To create the perfect pair of earrings, I need to repeat each step twice identically for the two earrings to look alike... Those feathers are made up of cords and fabric scraps which I unweave by hand, thread by thread, just like Penelope waiting for Ulysses. I ivented this technique myself. It took me hours to research and make tests in order to perfect the process. It allows me to revalue all kinds of fabrics. The feather is hardened with guar resin and a water-based textile hardener.
Maintenance
Do not submerge. If stained, carefully clean with a moist cotton bud or a soft brush along with the threads. If necessary re-comb the threads softly. My creations are made to last long, so if you think your jewel might need some refreshment, do not hesitate to contact me ! You can send it back and I will freshen it up for you !
